SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 12, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Jazz reportedly are bringing back free agent guard Johnny Juzang on a four-year, $12 million deal.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the deal Friday, which has yet to be announced by the team.
Juzang, a 6-foot-5, 209-pound guard, saw action in 20 games and made five starts for the Jazz last season, averaging 7.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 18.6 minutes per game.
He scored a career high 27 points on 9 of 12 shooting — including 7 of 8 from 3-point range — in a 118-110 loss to the Golden State Warriors on April 7.
The former UCLA star played the past two seasons on two-way contracts with the Jazz, allowing him to also suit up for the Salt Lake City Stars, Utah’s G League affiliate.
Juzang, 23, averaged 20.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes per game for the Stars last season.
The Los Angeles native went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft but signed a two-way deal with Utah in July 2022.
Juzang appeared in 85 career collegiate games over three seasons at Kentucky (2019-20) and UCLA (2020-22), recording career averages of 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 25.5 minutes per game.
The 2021-22 All-Pac-12 Conference First Team selection averaged 19.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in nine career NCAA Tournament games. He helped lead UCLA to the Sweet 16 in 2022 and the Final Four in 2021, the program’s first Final Four appearance since 2008.
Juzang ranks 10th on the Bruins’ all-time scoring list in the NCAA Tournament with 174 points.
