LOGAN, Utah, May 13, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah State star Great Osobor is following former Aggies coach Danny Sprinkle to Washington, and like Sprinkle, he’s lining his pockets.

Osobor, the Mountain West Conference Player and Newcomer of the Year, has landed $2 million in name, image and likeness deals — the most lucrative known NIL deals in college basketball — to join Sprinkle and the Huskies next season, according to ESPN.

The NIL agreements were negotiated by agent George Langberg of GSL Sports, ESPN reported.

“I would like to thank God for putting me in this position,” Osobor told ESPN. “Washington will allow me to maximize my potential as a player in my final year of college basketball. Coach Sprinkle has been with me every step of the way since I came from England, and I cannot wait to help the Huskies get back to the NCAA Tournament.”

Sprinkle recruited Osobor to Montana State, where he spent two seasons before following the head coach to Utah State for the 2023-24 season. He was one year of eligibility remaining.

Sprinkle, who guided Utah State to a Mountain West regular-season title, an NCAA Tournament appearance and the program’s first victory in the Big Dance since 2001, was announced as the Huskies’ head coach March 25.

Sprinkle reportedly signed a six-year, $22.1 million contract to become the head coach at Washington as it joins the Big Ten Conference.

Osobor also had been considering Louisville and Texas Tech as possible destinations for his senior season, according to ESPN. The Bradford, England, native confirmed his decision to transfer on social media Monday.

“It’s a blessing to be put in the position I am in now, and I look forward to using my platform to proudly represent my family and be a role model to my two younger sisters,” Osobor said.

The 6-foot-8 wing averaged 17.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.3 steals per game last season while shooting 57.7% from the floor for the Aggies last season. He ranked second in the Mountain West in rebounding and field goal percentage during conference play.

Osobor was the Big Sky Conference Top Reserve in 2022-23 after averaging 10.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game for Montana State during league play.

“I was not a highly recruited player coming out of England, with only a few Division I offers,” Osobor said. “Assistant coach Chris Haslam had a huge part in recruiting me to Montana State, and I owe him a lot for that. I am more motivated than ever to show young kids that it doesn’t matter where you come from. If you put in the work and necessary sacrifice, your time will come.”
