1 dead, 1 critically injured in I-70 rollover near Salina

SALINA, Utah, March 16, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A juvenile died and one person was critically injured in a rollover crash Friday on Interstate 70 near Salina.

A Buick Rendezvous, carrying five people, was westbound on I-70 near milepost 61 when the crash occurred, a Utah Department of Public Safety news release said.

According to the news release, the driver of the vehicle fell asleep and drifted off to the left, causing the vehicle to roll.

A juvenile male was ejected and died of his injures.

One of the occupants, who was lying in the back of the Rendezvous, suffered critical injuries and was transported to a hospital by medical helicopter.

The other three occupants, including the driver, had only minor injuries, the release said.
