12-year-old boy fatally injured when hit by truck in Pleasant Grove

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, Dec. 17, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian accident Monday night at the intersection of State Street and Pleasant Grove Boulevard.

Officers were dispatched to the accident scene at about 6:07 p.m., a news release from Capt. Smith of the Pleasant Grove Police Department said.

Upon arrival, they discovered the body of a 12-year-old boy.

According to the news release, the boy was crossing Pleasant Grove Boulevard, heading south, when he was struck by a “large construction type truck, who was making a right-hand turn.”

The driver of the truck has been cooperative with the investigation, and officials do not believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.

“We are saddened to learn that a 12 YO male lost his life while crossing the street. Our hearts go out to his family and friends,” Smith said in the news release.

“We want to thank everyone for their patience as we investigate this tragedy. Please drive safely out there.”

The release also expressed thanks to Pleasant Grove Fire Department, Utah County Sheriff’s Office, Utah Highway Patrol, Utah Medical Examiner, American Fork Police, and the Lindon Police Department for their help.
