3 killed in Kane County crash on SR-89

KANE COUNTY, Utah, Dec. 2, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Three people were killed Sunday night when a Ford van crossed over the center line and struck their vehicle on State Route 89.

The deadly crash occurred at 7:20 p.m. near mile marker 34, north of Big Water, the Utah Department of Public Safety said in a news release.

The Ford van was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on SR-89, DPS said. It crossed over the center line and hit a northbound Acura SUV head on.

It isn’t known why the Ford van crossed the center line.

The driver of the van was transported by Classic Air Guard to Dixie Regional Hospital.

DPS said a third southbound minivan hit debris from the crash and became disabled.

After the collision, the Ford van caught fire and burned.

Notification of the families of the deceased is ongoing, the news release said.

  1. One of the fatalities is a lower school Spanish teacher for my school. I am deeply afflicted by this crash, along with my fellow peers. We had a funeral for them on Friday, December 6, and it was really depressing. Please have sympathy for our grief from this tragic accident, and thank you.
