SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah, Aug. 31, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Saratoga Springs woman was arrested Thursday after police say she threatened to shoot up a dentist’s office because she was angry about having to reschedule her children’s appointments.

According to a probable cause statement filed by an officer with the Saratoga Springs Police Department, 43-year-old Linda Patricia Morford was supposed to take her two children to the dentist at 2 p.m. Thursday, but the children were late, so Morford called the dental office.

Upon being told she would have to reschedule, Morford became “very angry,” the statement says.

The phone conversation between Morford and the receptionist was recorded and, according to the charging document, Morford told the receptionist that sometimes in these situations, “gun people come in and they shoot everyone.”

She then said, “I’ll be there next Tuesday at 2 o’clock, and if we are five minutes late and you guys make us reschedule, then I will come in and KILL EVERYBODY, that’s what I’ll do.”

She allegedly followed this up with, “Well, I might this afternoon because I’m super angry, so watch out.”

According to the officer who was dispatched to the dental office, the incident happened at about 3 p.m., and when the officer arrived, the building was on lockdown.

“The entire building was extremely scared and many employees feared for their lives,” the officer wrote. “During the course of my investigation on scene, I had to walk employees out to their cars so they could leave for the day.”

The officer then went to Morford’s home and spoke with her there.

Morford explained her side of the story and told the officer “I would never really do that.”

According to the officer, she downplayed the phone call and wouldn’t admit to making death threats.

The officer told her that the call was recorded, the threats are extremely substantial and because of the number of people in the building at the time, the incident reaches the Domestic Terrorism level.

Morford was then advised that she was under arrest for threat of terrorism, a second-degree felony.

She was booked into the Utah County Jail.
