IRON COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 26, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Cedar City man was killed when he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding on State Route 14 late Sunday afternoon.

Utah Highway Patrol said the fatal crash happened shortly before 5 p.m. as Bryan M. Buck, 28, was riding a 2005 Suzuki eastbound on SR-14 near milepost 7, just east of Cedar City.

A UHP news release said there are three lanes on the highway at this location, and Buck was traveling behind a friend who was on a motorcycle in the No. 1 lane.

“The driver of the Suzuki attempted to pass the friend’s motorcycle at a high rate of speed,” the release states. “The roadway in the area of the crash curves significantly. The driver of the Suzuki motorcycle lost control of his bike.”

The Suzuki went off the right shoulder and vaulted, ejecting Buck, the release said. He was wearing a helmet, but suffered fatal injuries when he collided with the ground.
