Cottonwood Heights’ Canyon View Elementary evacuated due to gas leak

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah, Dec. 13, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Canyon View Elementary School has been evacuated due to a gas leak, the Canyon School District announced Friday morning.

“A natural-gas leak outside Canyon View Elementary will require an extensive fix, according to fire officials,” a statement posted on social media at 10:02 a.m says.

“As a result, school is cancelled for today. Students have been transported to Butler Middle until parents can pick them up.”

Canyon View Elementary is at 3050 Bengal Blvd., Cottonwood Heights. Butler Elementary, the pick up site, is at 7000 S. 2700 East., Cottonwood Heights

Students are waiting in the warm auditorium, and are being supervised by teachers and staff, the statement says.

“Parents have received additional information in an emergency robo-call message. Parents will need to provide ID to pick up their students. Staff will be at a table in front of the auditorium to conduct the check-out.”
