SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 12, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police and emergency crews responded to the scene of an accident outside the Utah State Capitol Friday night while dozens of students and chaperones attended Tooele High School’s junior prom inside.
The incident was initially reported to dispatchers as a hit-and-run accident, before police determined the incident involved just one vehicle — a Yellow Cab — that crashed into a parked car.
“The driver wasn’t able to navigate the turn and hit a parked car,” Lt. Scott Smalley, Salt Lake City Police Department, told Gephardt Daily.
“He was unconscious and unresponsive at the scene and was transported to the hospital, Smalley said.
“It could be medical or something else. We couldn’t talk to him, of course, so until we know more about his condition, it’s too early to speculate.”
Smalley said no one was in the taxi except the driver, and no other parties were injured.
