ADA COUNTY, Idaho, Oct. 30, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Idaho officials have concluded their investigation into the death of a Boise-area mother and her three children who died in June of 2016 when their SUV plummeted from a cliff and into a reservoir.

It was a murder suicide, investigators have announced, after investigating multiple other options.

Single mother Noel Bankhead, 40, daughters Anika and Gwyneth Voermans, ages 13 and 8, and son Logan Voermans, 11, died after Bankhead drove her red SUV off a cliff and into Lucky Peak Reservoir.

The vehicle plummeted about 50 feet into the water below, which was 40 feet deep. Deaths resulted from blunt-force trauma and drowning, the Medical Examiner determined.

“Witnesses later told investigators Noel Bankhead was driving her Land Rover northbound on Idaho State Route 21, slowed down, turned on to Spring Shores Road, positioned the car towards the cliff, and suddenly accelerated,” said information released by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.

“Investigators found no skid or brake marks where the SUV went over the edge. They also did a thorough check of the Land Rover’s repair history and checked for recalls. There was no evidence of any mechanical issues with the SUV.”

The results of toxicology tests from Bankhead’s autopsy showed no medication or alcohol in her system. No suicide note was found.

  1. I don’t care what her issues were. She had no right to take her childrens lives. If she wanted to check out that was on her but she took away their choice, their right to live.
