CEDAR CITY, Utah, Sept. 3, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Two vehicles were involved in a nearly head-on collision on Interstate 15 Tuesday afternoon, and both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles.

The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. at mile marker 68, a Utah Highway Patrol news release said.

A southbound Chevy Equinox drove through the median for an unknown reason and crashed, nearly head on, with a northbound Buick Lacrosse, the news release said.

The Buick’s driver was flown by medical helicopter to Dixie Regional Medical Center. The driver of the Chevy was transported to the hospital by ground ambulance.

No information was available on the type or extent of their injuries.

Northbound I-15 was temporarily shut down while the helicopter was on the ground, but both lanes have since reopened.
