Update: ‘Goring Fire’ reaches 15,000 acres, now 45% contained

BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A fast-moving fire that started Friday afternoon along Interstate 84 in Box Elder County has grown to 15,000 acres, officials said Saturday morning.

Known as the “Goring Fire,” the lightning-caused blaze is holding at 15,000 acres and is at 45 percent containment Saturday night.

Interstate 84 from Snowville to Tremonton has reopened after a closure Friday night.

No evacuations are currently in place.
