March 21 (UPI) — U.S. Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch said at his confirmation hearing Tuesday that President Donald Trump never asked him to overturn the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade.

Gorsuch, who participated in Day 2 of his confirmation before the Senate Judiciary Committee, told panel members that he had never even met Trump until he was interviewed to replace the late Antonin Scalia on the nation’s top appellate bench earlier this year.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., asked the Colorado-based judge whether the president might have asked about the 1973 abortion case.

When Gorsuch answered, Graham inquired what he would have done if Trump asked him to topple Roe v. Wade.

“Senator, I would have walked out the door,” Gorsuch said. “It’s not what judges do. I don’t do it at that end of Pennsylvania Avenue and they shouldn’t do it at this end either, respectfully.”
