I-80 closed both directions at 5600 West due to large grass fire

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 20, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews are fighting a large grass fire Tuesday morning on Interstate 80 between 5600 West and 4000 West, and officials have shut down the area.

The fire is near milepost 114 (Wright Brothers Drive). Several smaller fires also are burning along the roadway.

Utah Department of Transportation tweeted:

“I-80 is closed in both directions at 5600 W. in SLC due to a fire affecting the roadway. Traffic is being diverted off of I-80 at 5600 W. Expect delays through the area and check the UDOT Traffic App or @waze for updates.”
