SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, July 29, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 50-year-old man died Monday afternoon of injuries he sustained when a vehicle fell on him at an auto parts resale yard.

South Salt Lake Police Executive Officer Gary Keller said emergency crews were called just before 3:30 p.m. and responded to Pick-n-Pull, a self-service used auto parts store at 585 W. 3300 South.

“It was an unfortunate accident. The man was under a car, and the supports gave way,” Keller told Gephardt Daily. “We don’t know how long he was under the car before someone saw and helped him.”

Keller said the man was in delta-minus, or extremely critical, condition when he was transported to the hospital, and was pronounced deceased upon arrival there.

Keller said this type of incident is categorized by police as an industrial accident.

It isn’t known if the man was using his own equipment, such as a jack, when he was under the car.

The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of family.
