MILLCREEK, Utah, March 1, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have arrested a Millcreek resident after a stabbing Thursday night that left a man with serious injuries.

Fahim Abaid Al Bakawi, 46, was taken into custody early Friday morning.

Al Bakawi “was arrested by UPD officers for a stabbing that occurred at 3365 S. 900 East last night at 10:14 PM,” a tweet by the Unified Police Department says. “He was located at 2:55 a.m. this morning at 3128 S 900 East.”

Al Bakawi has been booked on suspicion of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony, and with aggravated assault — attempt with force or violence to injure, a third-degree felony.

A probable cause statement says that officers responded to a call of a stabbing on Thursday night. The victim was a 30-year-old man, stabbed in the back.

“The Victim No. 1 received a severe laceration, consistent with a knife stab wound, to the lower left area of his back, claiming AP (accused person) did it. Victim No. 2, who witnessed victim No. 1 get stabbed, was confronted by AP at knife point.

“AP chased victim No. 2 around a trailer in the road with knife in hand until Victim No. 2 was able to run back into his residence. AP fled the scene.”

Both victims identified Al Bakawi, a neighbor of victim No. 2, as the suspect.

“Officers searched the area but could not immediately locate AP,” the statement says. “Hours later, around 0245 on 3/1/19, officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in a nearby area, matching the given description of AP, knocking on someone’s backdoor, smiling at them. AP was located and arrested at that address. Officers located a large knife in the area AP was arrested.”

Al Bakawi’s bail has been set at $15,000.
