KEARNS, Utah, June 8, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A driver is in the hospital after losing control of his vehicle Thursday night, and a homeowner had two cars involved in a bizarre crash without even leaving his house.

The crash occurred at about 10:30 p.m. at 5584 W. Townsend Way (4810 South).

Witnesses at the scene told Gephardt Daily the first car was heading north on 5600 West when it hit the curb, flipped and went airborne, and crashed onto the roof of a car parked in the driveway next to the house on the corner. A second car, also parked in the driveway, was dinged in a rear panel when the out-of-control vehicle bounced into it.

After the first car smashed the roof of the car parked in the driveway, it continued its flight through the branches of a nearby tree and finally landed upside-down in the home’s backyard.

The homeowner said he was “lucky” that the cars were parked in the driveway and took the brunt of the crash. Otherwise, he said, the house itself would have been severely damaged.

Unified Police Detective Jared Richardson said the unidentified driver of the out-of-control vehicle was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Richardson said the cause of the crash was still undetermined.
