Park City Bartender Shot During Altercation Has Died

PARK CITY, Utah, Feb. 27, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A Park City bartender who was shot in the head during an altercation at his home has died.

Jose Fernandez, 37, of Park City, died Friday after being on life support since the shooting occurred on Monday.

The incident started after a woman called police to tell them her boyfriend had just shot a man at 1500 Empire Ave., Park City. When police arrived, they found Fernandez lying on the floor with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

After a preliminary investigation, James Henfling, 27, of Midvale, was arrested Monday morning and taken to the Summit County Jail. Police said in a statement they expect the District Attorney will amend the original attempted murder charge to murder.

According to a GoFundMe set up for the family, Fernandez was a popular bartender who had worked for the No Name Saloon & Grill and Boneyard Saloon for the past nine years.
