RICHMOND, Ind., Dec. 13, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A teenage suspect is dead after a reported shooting incident at a middle school in Richmond, Indiana.

“Shooting at Dennis Middle School, Richmond, IN, in Wayne Co., has resulted in the death of the teenage suspect,” a Thursday morning tweet from the Indiana State Police said. “No other students reported to be injured.”

Students, who had been put on lockdown, were released and sent home.

Indystar.com, a news website affiliated with USAToday, says that Richmond Police Department officials were notified that an armed student was heading to for the school with the intention of hurting people. The school went into lockdown.

Officers arrived at about the same time as the suspect, and gunfire was exchanged, the account says. The suspect fled inside the building. He was located and more gunfire was exchanged before the teen shot himself. It was not immediately known if any bullets fired by officers also struck the teen.
