One killed, two injured in crash on SR-40 near Strawberry Reservoir

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah, July 14, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — One man was killed and two other people were transported to the hospital following a crash involving a semi and a passenger car Saturday night.

The fatal collision occurred at 7:40 p.m. on State Route 40 at mile marker 40, near Strawberry Reservoir, a Utah Highway Patrol news release said.

A white Kenworth semi, pulling two tank trailers, was eastbound on SR-40, when a gray Honda Accord, heading north on Strawberry Road, attempted to make a left turn and pulled out in front of the Kenworth, the news release said.

The semi struck the Accord on the driver’s side door.

The driver of the Accord was killed in the crash. He has been identified as Gaje Combs, 25, from American Fork.

A female passenger, the only other person in the Accord, was flown by medical helicopter to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the Kenworth was alone in the truck and was taken to Heber Valley Medical Center.

No other details were available early Sunday.
