PROVO, Utah, Nov. 24, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Provo man has been booked into jail on suspicion of a crime against a 13-year-old boy.

Adam Peterson, 31, was booked on one charge of sodomy, a first-degree felony.

According to a probable cause statement, Peterson approached the young teen in a basement room, and performed an unwanted sexual act. As the boy attempted to flee, Peterson used his hands to pin down the child, preventing him from leaving.

“The victim was able to escape from Peterson’s grasp, flee upstairs and report the act to his father,” the statement says.

“The victim’s father and two other adult family members confronted Peterson in the basement. Peterson did not deny or admit to committing the act. He instead indicated that he could not remember what occured because he was intoxicated.”

Peterson then attempted to leave the premises, the statement says.

“Family members had to physically restrain Peterson inside the basement after Peterson made non-specific suicidal threats and attempted to leave.

Peterson was booked into the Utah County Jail at 2:48 a.m. Thursday. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 cash-only bail.
