SPANISH FORK, Utah, May 15, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Investigators with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office recovered a body from an abandoned car on a farm near Spanish Fork on Monday.

UCSO Sgt. Spencer Cannon, in a statement Tuesday, said an autopsy determined that the body is that of Steven Reed Terry, a 39-year-old man who had been missing since April 26, 2017.

UCSO deputies, Terry’s family and friends, and volunteers from the area conducted extensive searches last year.

At the time, it was reported he had sent his ex-wife a text that led her to believe he might harm himself.

Tuesday’s statement from UCSO said Terry died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
