SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 8. 2024 — A bicyclist struck by a car last weekend has died from her injuries, the Salt Lake City Police Department says.

The woman was 45-year-old BreAnna Anderson.

The investigation began at 12:07 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, when a Salt Lake City Police officer spotted a car stopped in the road with its hazard lights on near 400 West and 800 South, in the city’s Ballpark neighborhood.

“The officer walked up to the car and found Anderson lying in the road with multiple injuries. The Salt Lake City Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance took Anderson to the hospital with life-threatening injuries,” an SLCPD update says.

The driver of the car is cooperating with the investigation.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives and officers believe Anderson was riding her bicycle westbound in the eastbound lanes and struck the car head on.

“Anyone with information on this case is asked to call 801-799-3000.”

This crash marks the 11th traffic-related death in Salt Lake City for 2024.
