Storms With Hail, Winds, Lighting, Rain Lash Salt Lake Valley

Utah, June 13, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Storms that brought hail, winds, lightning and heavy rain to Utah Monday are now moving out of the Salt Lake Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms caused flooding across Salt Lake County, including in Murray and Midvale. State Street at 7800 South in Midvale closed due to flooding, and there are delays at 4500 South at I-15.

By 3 p.m., strong storms were nearing Wendover, with gusts of 40 to 55 mph and hail storms expected.

Rocky Mountain Power reported outages in West Jordan and South Jordan, in zip codes 84088 and 84095. Approximately 420 customers are without power, down from 686 earlier. A crew has been dispatched, and the cause is a vehicle accident. The estimated time of restoration is 9:30 p.m.

There was also an outage in Salt Lake City in zip code 84124. Approximately 900 customers are without power there. Crews are on site and repairs are underway. The cause of the outage was lightning, and the estimated time of restoration is 9:30 p.m.
