Teen passenger dead, driver arrested for DUI after Millard County rollover

DELTA, Utah, Dec. 1, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 15-year-old girl is dead and an 18-year-old male driver has been arrested for drunk driving after a rollover crash Friday morning in Millard County.

Residents called deputies early Friday after a young man knocked on doors in the Deseret area, saying he had been in an accident and asking for a ride.

According to reports, law enforcement officials found the crash at 3300 W. 2000 South, in Delta, and discovered the body of the teenage girl in the vehicle.

Millard County Sheriff’s deputies arrested the man who had been asking for a ride. Deputies have identified him as George Jakob Schafer.

According to information from the MCSO, Schafer has been arrested for driving under the influence, automobile homicide, underage consumption of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
