Feb. 4 (UPI) — Thousands of people marched through the streets of London to protest U.S. President Donald Trump‘s scheduled state visit.

An estimated 10,000 people marched from the U.S. embassy in London toward Downing street on Saturday to call for Prime Minister Theresa May to cancel the visit following Trump’s travel order, The Guardian reported.

May invited Trump to London during a visit to the White House in January just before he signed an executive order restricting travel to the United States for refugees and immigrants of seven predominantly Muslim countries — Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia and Yemen.

Protesters from groups such as Stop the War Coalition, Stand Up to Racism and the Muslim Association of Britain marched the streets, holding signs and chanting “Theresa May, shame on you,” The Sky News.

An online petition to prevent Trump from visiting the U.K. also received 1.8 million signatures.

“Campaigners, including Muslim organizations, are coming to central London to send a clear message to Theresa May that Trump’s not welcome here,” Sabby Dhalu, from Stand Up To Racism, told The Independent.

People gathered around a small stage before the march began where Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn addressed the crowd in a video message, stating May and the Torie Party “are on the wrong side of history.”

“Let no one be in doubt that I will oppose and the Labor Party will oppose all those who fan the flames of fear at home and abroad,” he said. “I support the demand of millions of people in Britain that Donald Trump should not be welcomed on a state visit to this country while he continues to propagate his anti-women, anti-Muslim and anti-Mexican policies.”
