CARBON COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 23, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 25-year-old Utah man was killed Sunday afternoon after the pickup truck he was driving left the road, rolled down an embankment and came to rest in a river in Carbon County.

Decker Manning, from Randlett, in Uintah County, was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the pickup truck as it rolled.

A news release from Utah Highway Patrol said the accident happened at approximately 1 p.m. when a flatbed pickup truck was southbound on State Route 191 near milepost 256. The truck approached a curve in the roadway, and Manning was traveling too fast for the curve and crossed over the center line, then ran off the left side of the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the pickup rolled down an embankment and came to rest on the passenger side in a river.

Manning died on scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.

Excessive speed appears to be the primary cause of the crash, according to UHP.
