Update: Motorcyclist in extremely critical condition after being pinned in SR-189 crash

DEER CREEK RESERVOIR, Utah, Sept. 9, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A motorcyclist is in extremely critical condition after losing control of the bike and crashing on State Route 189 in Provo Canyon.

According to a Utah Highway Patrol news release, the accident happened at about 7:27 p.m. near milepost 22.

The motorcyclist lost control and crashed into two parked trucks at a pullout on the right, the release states. The rider was thrown from the bike and was pinned under the second truck.

Passersby lifted the truck off of the motorcyclist, and UHP troopers began CPR.

Despite wearing a helmet, the rider suffered extremely critical injuries and was flown by helicopter to an area hospital, the release states.

Troopers are investigating speed as a factor in the crash.
