EMERY COUNTY, Utah, June 11, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The Trail Mountain fire grew significantly over the weekend due to erratic winds, according to a notice from the Emery County Sheriff’s Office.

The winds pushed the fire out of Mill Canyon and into Meetinghouse Canyon, an ECSO Facebook post said.

“One cabin and an outbuilding were destroyed,” the post says. “North Emery Water users’ culinary water is threatened. Heavy air support has been on the fire today, including a Black Hawk and two Chinooks.”

The fire has consumed 2,637 acres and is 10 percent contained, the post says. Resources committed to fighting the fire include:

  • 5 helicopters
  • 11 fire engines
  • 259 firefighters and support workers

Area residents are urged to use caution if driving State Route 31 in Huntington Canyon.

“The smoke tends to settle down near the roadway,” the post says.
