COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah, March 10, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Cottonwood Heights Police Department was trying to identify the suspect in a series of vehicle burglaries, and the police chief made a special offer to the person who could provide information leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Early Friday morning, the suspect was taken into custody following a police pursuit after an officer in Millcreek spotted the truck the suspect was believed to be driving.

According to a Facebook post by CHPD, on March 2, multiple vehicles were broken into in the area of 6200 South and 3000 East.

The suspect was described as a white man in his 20s, with a skinny build and blond hair. He has been seen driving a white truck, thought to be a Ford Superduty truck with black wheels, black grille and black bed cover.

According to Unified Police Lt. Paul Barker, at 1:30 a.m. Friday, an officer saw the suspect sleeping in the cab of the Ford truck in the Smith’s parking lot at 845 East and 4500 South in Millcreek.

Spikes were laid down around the truck and police ordered the suspect to come out. Instead of complying, the suspect backed into a police car and fled in the truck, with police in pursuit.

The chase ended when the truck spun out at 200 East and 4800 South in Murray.

Barker said the police car and the truck sustained damage, but no one was injured.

An earlier tweet from CHPD stated that the chief would buy dinner for two at Market Street for the person whose tip leads to the arrest of the suspect.
