Kearns High student shot in forehead with BB gun

KEARNS, Utah, Sept. 8, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified Police officers are investigating a BB gun shooting incident at Kearns High School.

According to police dispatchers, officers were called to 5525 S. 4800 West at 9:06 p.m. with reports of a student with a gunshot wound to the head.

UPD police spokesman Det. Ken Hansen told Gephardt Daily the victim was a 14-year-old male student who was shot in the high school parking lot after attending a school pep rally Thursday night.

Witnesses told police the victim was shot once in the forehead after being confronted by an apparent drive-by shooter.

It wasn’t until the student was taken to the hospital that first responders realized he’d been shot with a BB gun.

Police say the teenage victim was conscious and talking when taken to the hospital where it was determined his injuries injuries were not life-threatening.
