SANDY, Utah, Sept. 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A 40-year-old man was arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly threw a softball-sized rock through the window of a Utah Transit Authority Police car.
The officer was inside his vehicle in the parking lot of the Sandy TRAX station and was typing, the arrest affidavit says.
“An adult male walked up to the passenger side of the vehicle and threw a large softball sized rock at the window,” the statement says. “The impact broke the passenger front window, and I was sprayed by glass from the impact.
“I looked up, and the suspect was standing there, making eye contact. The suspect then turned and started to walk west.
“I exited my patrol vehicle and notified dispatch. I called to the suspect as he walked away to the west from me. The suspect picked up another large rock from the landscaping by the electrical boxes west of my location. The suspect threw the rock smashing the rear tail light on the cab of my patrol vehicle.
“I directed the suspect to stop. The suspect stopped. I then directed the suspect to get on the ground. The suspect complied and placed him in handcuffs.”
The man arrested was later identified as Khaled Saleh Jeddou. He was booked for investigation of assault on a peace officer with force producing injury/death, a second-degree felony.
“The suspect made no statement when placed under arrest,” Jeddou’s affidavit says. “The suspect was read his Miranda Warning. The suspect evoked his rights under Miranda.”
Jeddou was booked into the Salt Lake County jail system and ordered to be held without bail.
