KANSAS CITY, Kansas, May 13, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Three of NASCAR’s top racers were involved in a fiery crash at the Kansas Speedway Saturday night.

According to officials at the Go Bowling 400 NASCAR Cup Series race, Danica Patrick, Joey Logano, and Aric Almirola were jockeying for position during the 69th lap when Logano’s car suddenly slammed into Patrick’s vehicle in Turn 1, causing both vehicles to burst into flames. A split second later they were rear-ended by Almirola’s car, which also caught fire after going airborne.

Danica and Logano managed to walk away from their cars, but Almirola had to be lifted from his vehicle. He was placed on a backboard and flown to the Kansas Medical Center where he was said to be alert while undergoing evaluation.

Neither Patrick nor Logano were seriously injured.
