Severe turbulence injures 5 aboard west coast Delta flight; plane forced to make emergency landing at Reno Airport


 

RENO, Nevada, Feb.13, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — At least 5 people were injured after the Delta Air Lines flight they were on encountered severe turbulence while flying from Orange County, California to Seattle, Washington Wednesday.

Three of those people had to be hospitalized.

According to Reno-Tahoe International Airport spokesman Brian Kulpin, the jet made an emergency landing after hitting the turbulence about 2 p.m. Pacific time.

Passenger Joe Justice post a video via Twitter showing the damage inside the aircraft.

“Crazy turbulence and injuries, but the delta crew handled it perfectly, even the emergency landing,” Justice wrote.

The National Weather Service in Reno had warned that a winter storm was creating “downright dangerous flying condition with extreme turbulence.”
