SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, June 6, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A fight at a house party turned deadly Sunday morning when a 19-year-old was fatally wounded during a drive-by shooting.

South Jordan police say two groups of people got into fight at a home near 11400 South 1300 West around 2 a.m. Sunday. As one of the groups was leaving, police say someone pulled a gun and shot approximately a dozen rounds from a car.

A teen at the home was hit. He was rushed to a hospital but did not survive.

As of 7 a.m. Sunday, police were still interviewing witnesses, attempting to get a suspect description. Gephardt Daily is told the shooter may have left the scene in a blue passenger car.

11400 South has been closed between 1300 West and Redwood Road as homicide detectives investigate what happened. The road is expected to be closed throughout Sunday morning. South Jordan police suggest drivers take either 10600 South or 12600 South as alternate east-west routes.

The shooting happened just 20 minutes after one person was killed and four others were wounded in a drive-by shooting in Salt Lake City, but police say the two incidents are not connected.
