Two Iron County Women Arrested on Slew of Charges After Chase Ends

CEDAR CITY, UTAH – APRIL 16, 2015 (GEPHARDT DAILY) –  Cedar City Police Department responded to Wal-Mart in Cedar City after a call came in that there was a shoplifting in progress.

At approximately 6 p.m. on April 15, 2015, two female suspects exited the store and entered a blue passenger car. Upon further investigation it was discovered that the car was stolen from Colorado.

A Cedar City Police officer arrived on scene just as the suspect vehicle was leaving Wal-Mart. As the officer attempted to stop them, the driver of the vehicle the driver took off.

The chase went south on I-15 for about six miles and reached speeds of over 120 mph. The suspect vehicle collided into a passenger truck that was also traveling south on the freeway before the suspects exited the freeway. Both women then attempted to exit the vehicle before it stopped and lost control of the vehicle where it then ran off the roadway and through a fence.

Both suspects then attempted to flee on foot.  Both the driver, Kylee Sales, the passenger, Elizabeth Perkins, were then apprehended after a brief foot chase. 

Both Sales and Perkins are wanted fugitives from Colorado.

While searching the stolen vehicle, marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were discovered.

Kylee Sales and Elizabeth Perkins were both booked into the Iron County Correctional Facility for multiple offenses including; fleeing from police, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, retail theft, multiple traffic offenses and multiple drug offenses.

The bail for both Sales and Perkins was set at $10,000 respectively.
