WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – September 3, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – An investigation into thefts from mail trucks and mailboxes led the West Valley Police Department to uncover thousands of dollars in stolen property inside a pair of storage units.

Officers served search warrants on the units at 60 South Orange Street in mid-August and discovered everything from common power tools to high end precision measuring systems. Police believe the power tools were taken in vehicle and residential burglaries but they suspect the measuring devices were stolen from businesses. No mail was recovered from the storage units.

One suspect showed up while officers were serving search warrants on the storage units and was arrested and booked into jail. Inside his vehicle, Daniel Selin, 32, had a loaded 45 caliber handgun, thousands of dollars in cash, and papers linking him to drug distribution and stolen property rings.

Now, the West Valley Police Department would like to reunite the stolen property with its rightful owners. Police have created a Facebook album titled, “Stolen Property Recovered” where people can study photos of the recovered items. The same photos are posted in a gallery on the WVC Police website.
