Mississippi Police Car Records Lightning Near-Miss
GAUTIER, Miss., June 1 (UPI) — A Mississippi police department shared dashcam footage of a lightning bolt that narrowly missed a patrol car driving on the interstate.
The YouTube video, recorded by the dashboard camera in Gautier Police Sgt. Mark Rodriguez’s patrol car, shows the lightning strike a Tchoutacabouffa River bridge in front of the car Tuesday on Interstate 10.
Rodriguez said he later returned to the site of the lightning strike and discovered a piece of singed concrete where the bridge was hit.
