OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK, Wash., Dec. 16 (UPI) — A ranger searching for spawning salmon at a national park in Washington state found something even more interesting — a bobcat catching a fish the size of itself.
Olympic National Park ranger Lee Snook, chief of interpretation and education at the park, said she was walking the Spruce Nature Trail in search of spawning salmon to photograph with her camera phone when she spotted the bobcat hunting for something similar.
The video Snook posted to the park’s official page on Facebook shows the bobcat stalk and eventually kill a salmon.
“It’s as big as she is,” Snook told the Tacoma News Tribune of the fish and cat.
She said the bobcat did not seem bothered by her presence.
“I wasn’t being aggressive. I just stood there and watched,” Snook said.
