California Store Seeks $75,000 Lottery Winner Who Was Given Only $75

Lottery TickeyPALMDALE, Calif., May 4 (UPI) — The manager of a California gas station is trying to find a lottery winner who was given $75 but was actually due a $75,000 prize.

Shamsun Hahar Islam, manager of the Chevron gas station in Palmdale, said a cashier misread the scratch-off ticketbrought in by the winner, described as a man in his mid-20s with a large truck, and gave him a $75 prize.

Islam said the man was actually due a $75,000 payout.

The manager, who released surveillance footage of the man, said she is hoping the public will help identify the winner so he can receive his full prize.

“I hope the right person comes and picks up the ticket,” she told KNBC-TV.

Russ Lopez with the California Lottery said the store contacted officials and an investigation is ongoing.
