NEW YORK, March 24 (UPI) — David Letterman was spotted with a decidedly different look this week in St. Barts.

The 68-year-old television personality was all smiles as he showed off his bald head and beard during a jog. The new look shocked fans, with many comparing him to Santa and Noah.

The sighting comes 10 months after Letterman’s retirement from CBS late-night talk show the “Late Show with David Letterman.”

The star attended The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research benefit in November, but has not tweeted since July.

Letterman announced his retirement in April 2014 and signed off in May after nearly 22 years on the “Late Show.” He was succeeded by “The Colbert Report” host Stephen Colbert, who made his “Late Show” debut in September.

“I can remember the first day that Stephen Colbert took over,” Letterman told the Whitefish Review in December. “I thought I would have some trouble, some emotional trouble, or some feeling of displacement, but I realized, hey, that’s not my problem anymore. And I have felt much better.”

“I used to say, every day, ‘I am so sick and tired of shaving,'” he explained of his beard. “I had to shave every day, every day, for 33 years … And I just thought, ‘The first thing I will do when I am not on TV is stop shaving.’ And everybody hates it. My wife hates it. My son hates it.”

“I’ve kind of developed a real creepy look with it that I’m sort of enjoying,” he added. “And I can tell that people are off-put by it. And the more people implore me to shave, the stronger my resolve is to not shave. So the day that I’ll shave, I’ll call you.”

Letterman hosted “The David Letterman Show” and “Late Night with David Letterman” prior to the “Late Show.” He also created and executive produced “The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.”
