The rescue group determined the cause of Daisy’s mobility problems was congenital deformation of her elbows, right shoulder and back hips.
The Mains said they specifically sought to adopt a special-needs dog.
“I wanted a special needs dog because I know they have a difficult time finding a forever home, but I like to focus on what they can do instead of what they’re unable to do,” Sheena Main told KABC-TV.
The family set up a donation page to help purchase prosthetic limbs for Daisy, and the response was so overwhelming that they had to return some of the donations.
The couple said they hope Daisy’s story inspires other humans to care for special needs dogs.
“She’s just courageous, she had a lot of challenges in her life that I would’ve never been able to conquer,” Sheena Main said.
