NEW YORK, April 6 (UPI) — A Manhattan court granted permission for Ellanora Baidoo to serve her husband Victor Sena Blood-Dzraku divorce papers via private message from her Facebook account.
Justice Matthew Cooper cited the “advent and ascendency of social media,” as the “next frontier” for “forums through which a summons can be delivered.”

Blood-Dzraku had no permanent address, no place of work, did not respond to phone calls and refused to agree to a place to meet to receive the papers. Other than by phone, the two communicated via Facebook message.

They were married in a civil ceremony in 2009 but Blood-Dzraku did not follow through with a traditional Ghanian ceremony and they never lived together.

Blood-Dzraku has not yet responded to the divorce. If he does not respond, Baidoo has the right to “divorce by default.”
