SARASOTA, Fla., Feb. 11 (UPI) — A Goodwill Store in Florida is encouraging people coming off a break-up to help get some closure by donating items belonging to their former partners.

The Goodwill Manasota store’s “Donate Your Ex’s Stuff” will run Feb. 15-29 and will encourage heartbroken members of the community to donate the remnants of past relationships.

“Certainly we’re having a little fun at the expense of Valentine’s Day, but the benefits derived from those seeking the pride of earning a paycheck, and the self-worth that comes with self-sufficiency, are priceless,” Goodwill Manasota Foundation Vice President Veronica Brandon Miller said in a press release.

“We wish those in happy relationships a very happy Valentine’s Day … and encourage everyone else to clean out their closets, donate to Goodwill and start fresh!”

The campaign began with a party on Monday featuring food, drinks and music.

All items donated during the drive will be sold in local Goodwill stores. The organization stresses that it is not liable for items donated by people other than their rightful owners.
