April 10 (UPI) — Auto giant Ford has unveiled a one-of-a-kind crib designed to simulate a nighttime car ride to help babies on their drives to dreamland.

The car company teamed with Spanish creative studio Espada y Santa Cruz to create the Ford Max Motor Dreams, a crib that simulates the motion, sounds, and lighting of a nighttime drive to help babies drift off to sleep.

The crib has a paired smartphone app that can customize the simulation in ways including the amount of traffic noise and weather options including rain.

“After many years of talking to mums and dads, we know that parents of newborns are often desperate for just one good night’s sleep. But while a quick drive in the family car can work wonders in getting baby off to sleep, the poor old parents still have to be awake and alert at the wheel,” Espada y Santa Cruz designer Alejandro Lopez Bravo said. “The Max Motor Dreams could make the everyday lives of a lot of people a little bit better.”

Only one of the cribs has been made thus far, and is being offered as a raffle prize for customers who test drive vehicles in Ford’s Max line, but the company said it is considering putting the cribs into mass production after an outpouring of international interest.
