Josh Davis of Hackettstown, N.J., whose risky tattoo decision went viral when a friend posted a picture of the skin art on Twitter, says he does not regret tattooing the team’s logo with “2015 World Champs” on his side despite the team’s failure to clinch a World Series victory.
“I don’t regret it at all,” Davis told ABC News. “I’ve been a huge Mets fan my whole life. I can always change it. I could always add to it. People are saying to wait until next year and make it a six .”
Davis said he was surprised by the attention his tattoo received after being posted to Twitter by friend Kevin Hynson.
“I’m definitely surprised,” he said. “I had a lot of faith and the tattoo artists were saying how cool it would”e been if they actually won, but it seems to be getting a lot of attention since they didn’t win.”
Davis said his friends and family support his decision to keep the tattoo.
“A lot of people think I should keep it, and all my friends and family at least are not calling me an idiot like everybody else,” Davis told WINS-AM. “I guess I proved to everyone my colors, but I was wrong.” Davis said he is considering correcting the tattoo by adding all of the years when the Mets appeared in the World Series, with asterisks marking the years the team lost.
“It would actually be factual and correct and still a tribute to the Mets and them going to the World Series,” Davis said.
