VIENNA TOWNSHIP, Mich., Sept. 8 (UPI) — A crash on a stretch of interstate in Michigan caused delays when it covered three lanes of the road in human waste.
The Michigan Department of Transportation confirmed only one lane of northbound Interstate 75 remained open Wednesday afternoon in Vienna Township, northern Genesee County, after a U-Haul truck collided with a tanker truck hauling a load of human waste.
Clio Area Assistant Fire Chief Kirk Todd said hazmat crews responded to the scene and used sand to soak up the waste into “solid” form that could then be removed from the road.
The U-Haul driver was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, while the tanker driver did not require medical treatment.
All lanes of traffic were reopened by Wednesday night.
