Teen Convicted After Spending $30K Mistakenly Deposited Into His Account
MADISON COUNTY, GA – A Madison County, Georgia teen who spent the better part of $30,000, which was mistakenly put into his checking account by a bank teller, will serve the next 10 years on probation and has been ordered by a judge to pay the money back.

Both the victim and the man convicted have the same name and both live in Hull, a small town in Madison County. Never knowing each other even existed.
The elder namesake sold some land and went to the bank to make a $30,000 deposit. The bank teller, a friend of his accidentally placed the money in the teen’s account.
That teller lost her job.
The teens mother doesn’t appear to see much wrong with how it all went down telling CBS “I told that woman up at the bank she should have looked over her mistake that she made if she knew there were three people up there with the same name,” said Stacey Sorrow, the teens custodial parent. “He was excited. I would have been too.”
Sorrow never warned the teen that spending money they could easily assume wasn’t theirs could bring him a lot of trouble so the teen spent most of the money on a BMW, and a few other items.
The older Fields had never met the younger Fields until they met in court. When asked if he felt the teen was sorry, he said “I don’t know if he was or not. It’s like when people say, ‘I’m sorry.’ I feel like they’re sorry they got caught,” .
Adding to his recent charges, the teen has since been arrested on possession of illegal drugs. Anyone with a pending sentence can be brought before a judge on the new allegations and have a portion of their sentence combined with the old sentence. It is unclear at this time what the outcome of the new charges will be.
