FORT WORTH, Texas, April 9 (UPI) — A Texas veterinarian has made viral stars out of her tortoise and dog with a video of the unlikely best friends playing chase in a yard.
Dr. Cynthia Jones, a veterinarian with the Humane Society of North Texas in Forth Worth, adopted eight-year-old Sheldon the tortoise and Dolly, a three-year-old American pit bull terrier, from the facility and the two animals quickly struck up a strong cross-species friendship.
Whitney Hanson, director of development and communications for HSNT, said the curiously speedy tortoise and the dog will play chase for hours at a time.
“He’ll chase after her, she runs away and they do this for hours on end and apparently she’s been trying to get Sheldon to get interested in her favorite red ball but so far he has very little interest in it so he won’t play fetch with her but he will play chase with her,” Hanson told ABC News.
A video of Sheldon and Dolly playing was posted to YouTube in February, but only recently went viral.
