MENLO PARK, Calif., Sept. 28 (UPI) — For the third time in less than two weeks, Facebook crashed Monday — leaving millions of users wondering what was happening with the social network.
The problem happened Monday afternoon, when users either could not access the site at all or had to deal with slow load times.
Users looking to post a status update or peruse their news feed saw an error message that read, “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”
Monday’s was the third time in 11 days the social giant experienced a connectivity problem. The first happened Sept. 17 and the second Sept. 24.
“A Facebook-wide issue is causing the Facebook Graph API to be temporarily unavailable,” the site wrote on its developer site. “We’re working with our core infrastructure teams to identify the issue and will update you when we have more information.”
“We have identified the issue and are in the process of pushing the fix,” a subsequent post read.
Venture Beat reported that the first outage this month lasted about five minutes and the second 10 minutes, but Monday’s lasted the longest.
Venture Beat also reported that Facebook didn’t respond to previous inquiries about the first two outages. Monday, though, Facebook did issue a reply.
“We’re working to bring things back to normal for everyone. We apologize to those who have been inconvenienced,” the site told Venture beat.
Facebook has more than a billion users and is one of the busiest websites on the Internet.
